hi.. i had a colonoscopy on monday,i seen that my rectum was inflamed and i also had a polop removed and some biopsies done.but before this the steroids was bringing me under control with no blood,now i have bloody stools with a little mucus.my question is-does anyone know if the colonoscopy has caused me to start bleeding again?or could it be the biopsy?...or is it possible all this has caused me to flare again?...has anyone got any ideas to help me cope with the mood swings that the steroids cause.it is driving my wife crazy.lol..thanks smhair

The biopsies and polyp removal will cause bleeding even if one isn't in a flare. It can take 4 days for that to stop.

You were flaring anyway with rectum inflammation...it'll take you a bit to get back on track.

Can you not take any 5ASA rectal enemas? Asacol comes in rectal foam. Have you tried that?

Hang tough....hope you can get off the pred sooner than later.

When do you go back for your biopsy results?

heather im taking pred foam until i get settled i have asacol foam there ready do u think i should used that instead of the pred foam? i have to phone my doc for the biopsy results,should i worry about that? do u think the pred is mixing my mind up? cause im up then down, its mad. i do my very very best to hang tough for my wife and 2 girls but sometimes its hard and i know theres people worse of than me.

OK, just for clarity...are you on prednisone pills? If so, why did you have to go on them?

If you're taking the pred foam as well, yes, it can exacerbate the amount you're getting.

I think it's worth trying the asacol foam if you have it. You might have to use it twice a day possibly.

What suppositories are in your signature?

I'd never go on pred unless it was maybe a 10 day or 2 week taper off. I'd be just like you're describing. I feel like that anyway..lol...I know I'd be horrible to be around.

REgarding the biopsies...you should always know what they are and you should get a copy so that you can KNOW what's actually going on and being described...even if the doc says "all is fine". that's a blanket term for lots of things.

q im on pred pills and im down to 2..a day 5mg this is my 2nd course, u ask am i on them,cause they are the only thing that helps me stop my flare,tho im still bleeding from my scope, and yes im going to used my asacol foam instead of the pred foam cause i think it crop.lol.as for suppositories im on penesta{spelling}not good.. i also dont think they are good,my GI ask for a stool sample i wonder y,. q do u think i do not need pred when u flare do u not need them if not how do u stop it and how long does it take? thanks
