Male infertility?

Do you guys know if any of the medicine that is used for ulcerative colitis causes male infertility? I've taken 6MP, Remicade and I know sulfasalazine causes temporary infertility, but does anything cause permanent?

I've taken prednisone when I was 13 years old, that was a while back. I'm not planning to have children for a while, not for a few years, but I was just curious.

AFAIK, no issues are permanent but before you go ahead with the child plan, make a trip to the fertility clinic.


Just a warning flag here.
Our son showed severe symptoms of autism between the age of 1.5 to 2+ years. Now the symptoms are rather less but speech delay is present. He is little over 2.5 years now and his vocabulary is not more than 5 words. There is no proven (scientific or medical) record of UC medications and autism. None of our families have history of autism. From current knowledge, me and my wife see only 2 *weak* links,
1. Vit. D deficiency in my wife during pregnancy. (We are Indians living in Sweden so less exposure to the sun and not taking extra Vit. D supplements till then)
2. I was taking UC medications for more than a year before she conceived.

His autism is neither confirmed, nor denied, still under investigation.

I don't intend to freak you out. Since I am STILL confused about this scenario, this is just a warning flag. Talk about it to every medical professional you get a chance to talk to.

No UC is not linked to infertility in either sex, neither is an ileostomy (for women at least, I think there's a small risk of men becoming infertile during surgery), J-pouch surgery carried a higher risk of infertility.
