Low Dose Naltrexone?

It's not well accepted but Jill Smith at Penn State has done a couple of trials (one adult and one pediatric) on LDN/CD with promising results. You might want to search pubmed or contact her.

This is what I was going to take on the next appointment, very curious to see  what my daughters doctor knows about this. 

 The third video is very interesting , because this doctor talks about how  he uses it on his patients ( along with alpha lipoic acid ) in patients that have pancreas cancer, liver cancer after treatment of a few months the tumors are gone. It is a very interesting.

I asked my GI about LDN and she didn't seem too likely to prescribe it for me. How do you get a doctor to give you a prescription for this? I would imagine they would have to be well versed in using LDN for treating illnesses. My Gi didn't seem familiar with it.

LDN is not an immune booster. It is called more of an immune regulator, stabilizing or moderating your immune system helping the body heal. There are some theories that we are low on certain kinds of immunity like the killer cells maybe? I can't remember exactly, this helps correct that.

You do get LDN from a compounding pharmacy but you have to have a prescription. Most cannot get their specialist to write it, most have better success getting it from a Family / Primary doctor.

PH - It is a lot of work. It took me forever to find a doctor that would prescribe it. My GI wanted nothing to do with it, he wanted me back on Remicade.

I am doing well, but not great yet. I have been on it almost 2 months. I am still playing with my dose a bit. The standard adult dose is 4.5mg but some seem to do better with a smaller dose and some with a little higher dose. I think it has helped but hasn't put me in complete remission yet.

I found out about it from my friend with UC. She has been on it almost a year now and is doing fantastic. Her story is interesting because she had never been in full remission in 10 years, just variations of less symptoms. She was on it for 4 months before she noticed a change. What is interesting is, she has stayed on it while taking Humira. I am trying to get to the point where LDN would be my only med. I told myself I had to give it 3 -4 months before I decided if it was working or not. I have heard it can take time for some because it is healing your body, not treating your immediate symptoms.

There a few HW folks on the Crohnn's board on it. A few are doing really well with it, a couple with mixed results. Some find when paired with a diet like Fodmap, SCD, or no sugar/no wheat they do much better with LDN.

Dr. Sullivan from Mechanicsburg,  PA will do a consult over the phone and prescribe it in a capsule or cream his number is 717-697-5050 I tried it but it didn't help my UC it helped my mood though, which was good because i was down in the dumps. I eventually just stopped taking it. The cost was cheap too! I hope it does help you, Lord knows I'm still seaching for something more than meds for relief.
