Has anyone tried bacillus subtilis for ulcerative colitis? According to this article it was available as a over the counter diarrhea aid in the 50's and 60's and is still used in Europe for digestive issues:

That bacteria is available in Primal Defense, it is a soil based organism. I've been taking Primal Defense for a about a week, and it made me go like crazy with dark diarrhea. Whether it is cleansing out the bad guys or I am having a reaction to it, not sure, but I have to quit taking it for now.

I took Primal Defense for a while. I don't think it helped my condition much. I was in a bad flare at the time.

I use Primal Defense (PD) on and off a lot along with many other probiotics, in spite of the fact that the company founder's personal testimonials seem very fishy and made up to me, and he got in trouble years back for making some phony claims about his credentials. That said, I have found PD to have some benefit (certainly it doesn't cause me any problems) in helping reverse flares, and therefore I mix it in my daily regimen along with others including VSL3, Align, Culturelle, Digestive Advantage IBS capsules, Reuteri Pearls, etc..

Primal Defense absolutely killed me.... I took it for about 10 days, pretty much the entire time suffered from bloody D, much more so than prior to starting it! I finally gave my bottle away to someone, with a warning! After doing more research on SBO's too, they kind of sketch me out. Not always a good idea. I prefer probiotics personally.

I don't want to say PD is a bad product, the reviews are glowing on Amazon and most web stores. I just think maybe some of us are very sensitive to some of the bacterias, either that or we are so full of candida it seems the product is killing us :)

Forgot to mention Threelac has Bactillus in it as well.
