I have been off and on Imuran a few times now and each time it builds up in my system I start having upper right quadrant abdominal pain. This time my GP and GI had me on Dexilant, Had and scan of my Gallbladder done, an H.Pylori test and both assured me it couldn't be one of the medications I am on. My Christmas was tough. I was in pain for the entire time. After the holidays I went to see my GP but he was out so I saw another doctor filling in. She said "If this was an Ulcer, it should be better by now." A light bulb went off and I stopped my Imuran, Sleep Aid, Dexilant, and am now tapering off Lexapro. Almost immediately my pain has started improving! I'm frustrated!

So, my question is: Has anyone had a right upper quadrant pain caused by Imuran or, another medication? I am assuming it's my liver. Perhaps some sort of biliary irritation?

I have not experienced this with Imuran. Were you having regular blood tests done - if so what did your Liver Function Panels say? That should give you some insight as to whether is was a Liver function issue... I would be careful going off all those meds without at least consulting a physician. If you don't want to take them anymore I understand but you might need to be medically supervised as you go off of them - expecially the Lexapro. You can have withdrawal symptoms...

nope, I can't say that I have had that type of pain. I've been on Imuran quite a while now, about 3 1/2 years, & never experienced anything like that.
