Any correlation to diarrhea? I've been treating a cold. Started those drugs over the weekend....

Yes!! Yes !! Yes!! Mucinex gives me major diarrhea. I think they put fake sugar, either sorbitol, xylitol, or manitol in it. It's terribly sad because the product works for the cold symptoms but keeps me in the bathroom all day long. I have also learned that all OTC cough syrups also contain fake sugars hence the same problem. Arghhh.....

I hope you are right Suebear because what I'm going through now -- last time led to a major flare.
Mucinex I read also causes dehydration.

I am fairly sure I am correct. It has taken me a year or so to figure out the problem with the OTC cough/cold medications. Because I already know that fake sugars give me severe diarrhea I ascertained that these products must have those ingredients in them. I can't find fake sugar on the ingredient lists but I am almost positive it's in there.

Yes, it really did a number on my husband; and he doesn't have UC. I stayed away from it after I saw the reaction it gave him. Hope you feel better soon. You might try nasal irrigation; I usually do that to stay away from the OTC meds for colds.
