Got my results back from my proctitis biopsy and he said that the results were great, all it showed was inflamation. O.k. what does that mean? is it considered ulcertive proctitis or is there such a thing as just proctitis? He never called it ulcertive proctitis, so is that the same as proctitis.

I hope someone has a better answer... all I can tell you is that I had "proctitis" initially and now I have UC. I don't know if proctitis is always UP but I would imagine it is not. My GI did mention that it was unlikely my disease would progress, unfortunately it did.

Ask for a copy of the report (yiu're entitled to it) and tell us exactly what it said and we can go from there...

itis refers to inflammation.  I believe why your doc is happy is that there are different degrees of inflammation.  There is mild inflammation which is like a red rash and it can go up in terms of severity from there.  Ulcerative proctitis would imply that you have so much inflammation that it has caused ulcers.  So you have mild inflammation so you have proctitis.  He is happy in that it's not ulcerative in nature.  It can turn into that if not treated properly but now your case is not that bad from what you are saying.  The next level down would probably be normal tissue with no inflammation.
