Thanks beeswax, I haven't been in remission in years going through all sorts of drugs decided to take myself off prednislone as it was destroying me currently on 6mp don't really feel any better on it, tho my main concern is this mental mood I am in I will take a look at that depression forum too. I know it is easy for me to say but don't give up on finding a job something will cone up eventually. I wish the uk did more for uc sufferes!

Hi, sorry to hear you're having a bad time. Good things come to those who wait and with UC, you really have to wait!

UC seems to flare at bad times and can makes things seem worse, but I always think it's a good idea to have a plan to stick to and goals to work towards - actually that goes for other parts of life as well.

We all have that leaving the house feeling with UC - I think I know where all the public toilets are in my neighbourhood now!!

Tell us more about what meds you've tried as well as other things. I was at the end of my rope too a year ago having tried many drugs with no success and many diets with no success. For whatever reason the last try I gave at changing my diet gave me some improvement and I've been following that path ever since.

Diet control doesn't work for everyone but it could possibly help with some of your symptoms. A little bit is better than nothing and being able to get out of the house would be good.

Can you look for a support group at your hospital? Having someone to talk to means a lot, someone who knows what you're going through.

We're glad to have you here but it's good to have a real shoulder to cry on sometimes when things are bad.

Have you tried removing dairy and gluten from your food yet? Those are two biggies that can help. It's not an overnight cure but every little bit helps.

Good Luck - there is so much valuable info here on what to try insofar as diet, medications, support etc.

Keep a good log of the different things to keep account of what you have done to try to chart any progress.

Surgery is not for everyone and is a last resort for most. If you reach that point there is certainly a lot of info out there and support as well.

It is a definite personal decision but you sound like you are reaching a very tough time in your life. Please hang in there and if all else fails if you go the surgery route I think you will be surprised. We did a ton of research beforehand and was well aware of what was involved. The j-pouch ended up not being possible for my husband for many good reasons. You are young and probably have more pluses in your favor for pouch surgery if it gets to that decision for you down the road.

I know where you are coming from I went through all that too and it sucks. Its not fair and its totally ok to feel sorry for yourself sometimes! You could try some of the depression meds lots of people use them with great success. I don't know what meds you have tired personally I didn't try very many after 8 years of suffering I said forget this and take this colon out! That's not for everryone but for me it was the best decision ever. I hope you feel better!
