Taper sounds ok to me too. The last thing you want to do is become prednisone dependent like I was before my surgery last year. It gave me osteoporosis, high blood pressure and high glucose levels. My blood pressure is well controlled with only 25 mgm of toprol daily (when on prednisone, I took 3 different blood pressure meds and it was still high) and my blood glucose level is normal. However, I have bad osteoporosis and suffered three fractures in my spine in the past few years. Contemplating Reclast.
My friend developed Addison's Disease but she was a Crohn's patient and took herself off prednisone cold turkey. Guess her doctor never told her the dangers of doing that.
