i think we've finally beat the c-diff!!

it's still early so fingers crossed. after months of vancomycin we finally got tapered down to a dose every third day but by the time he was due for the next dose the symptoms were back, so during the last week of dosing i started giving him all 3 of his probiotics every 12 hours. they are culturelle, florastor and ultimate flora critical care. so now it's been 3 days since his last dose of vanc and he's having the best poops ever, with no c-diff symptoms whatsoever! yeah so i guess we'll keep going on like this for a while and then try stepping down the probiotics a bit and see where we stand.

that is wonderful. I hope he continues to feel good. You guys have been through a lot.

i think we're going to try switching to the VSL#3. at the rate we're going the probiotics he's on will cost about $180 a month. the VSL should be about half that. hope it'll have the same effect.

funny how i had to learn about things that work (probiotics, FT...) on here and the dr.s don't seem to know anything about it. they just want to push the drugs even though there are easier, tried and true, and less harmful methods of treatment. makes me wonder if we could have controlled the UC with heavy loads of probiotics... it's a little irritating.

just want to reiterate my sentiment that you guys are awesome.
