A while ago I cut milk, lactose free milk out completely. I make protein shakes with the runny kind of yogurt. The following article details how this is better for me with respect to lactose intolerance and more importantly milk protein allergy. The milk protein is partially digested during the yogurt fermentation process, we already know what happens to the lactose it is greatly diminished.

Recently I just have not eaten much spinach or sunflower seeds. I have cut out as much grains as possible and have cut out milk. So now I am feeling normal and have a ski trip next week in Breck with many friends from my home town in the midwest. It is important to have UC under control. I am only going once per day with the help of a morning blast of caffeine. Everything has been chopped including my UC meds and VSL#3DS.

The article says we can gauge our colon health by our ability to absorb B-12. I have been only taking a B complex each day and no longer take B-12 shots. Yet my recent blood work shows my B12 is off the chart or HIGH. I take that as a good sign of an improving colon. Going forward that plus my platelet count will be the two yardsticks by which I can measure my UC condition. If they slip I will have to get more serious about
food restrictions and solid rest in order to get out of the way of an oncoming flare.
Hopefully this will continue and I can keep UC caged up but actively monitored and not forgotten.
