need to take antibiotics... advice

so i have been breastfeeding my baby and ended up getting a breast abscess :( I have been prescribed Augmentin 750mg twice a day for 2 weeks.

I have been taking Align once a day but I just bought Florastor since from what I have learned on here it seems to not be effected by antibiotics.

Should I continue the Align or is it best to just take one brand of probiotic?

Has anyone on here taken Augmentin and how did it effect your UC?

     Ahhh...brings back memories.  I used to get those nasty abscesses when I breastfed my youngest, now aged 33, and had to take antibiotics.  However I didn't get UC until I was 52.  My GI doctor always made me take Flagyl along with the other antibiotic.  Apparently, the Flagyl keeps the "good" bacteria from getting destroyed, but check with your pediatrician.

Yep. I agree with Christine. Flagyl is the best prevention. Talk to your Dr.

When I was on antibiotics in Dec for Strep throat, I called my GI because the antibiotics caused diarrhea, and they said to take flagyl with antibiotics.

But, to answer your other question in the meantime - yes, you can combine and mix probiotics. I base this opinion on the fact that there are so many blends and mixtures for sale.... and also, I've taken several different kinds at once with only good effect.

does align have saccrymose boulardii in it? I was told that strain survives antibiotics (by an infectious disease specialist, so hopefully he knows what he's talking about!)

called my GI to tell them about the antibiotic I am now on and they gave me a one month supply of VSL#3. I am pretty excited to start taking this and hope it keeps things in check while I am on the antibiotics.
