Daughter occasionally drinks vodka with fresh apple& raspberry juice - less acidic than orange juice.

Hard liquor was always really hard on my gut.
Juices would also tear me up.
Beer and white wine were OK, but too much is simply a dumb thing to do to your bad gut.
My best drink when I was flaring but still going to bars was white wine mixed with club soda and lemon on ice. No, I didn't get drunk on it but it was a nice cocktail. And I could always drive!

I am not a big drinker but I do have a few drinks on occasion. Normally I stay away from carbonated beverages. I can not drink beer at all (gives me migraines) as well as wines. But I will have a Bay Breeze once in a while, it's vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice.
I don't like to drink that much because of me being on 6mp but once in a while I indulge. No binge drinking though.

I have a few drinks here and there without symptoms. I try to keep drinking to a minimum, not because of UC but more because it makes me feel terrible the following day and decreases my productivity.

I've gotten drunk but it's not fun the next day. I hate beer. Wine is easy on my gut. Margaritas are the easiest I think... and tastiest. Mojitos are okay if I take it easy. I dunno... if I have rum or tequila in other forms it tears me up. Vodka's not bad. Personally I wouldn't go off meds, and if I did, I wouldn't drink.

Sounds good. Is this called something? Or do you have to describe it to the bartender/wait person?

sometimes i get drunk also with it. off course, i try to avoid this.

vodka tonic works for me but i also socially smoke when drinking. while drinking and the next day there is no issue and even an ease of symptoms due to the dehydration. the day after is another story.

So far ive been good with most alcohol as long as im not flaring hard core, started back after most recent flare testing the waters with some rum and fruit juice, then tried beer found it didnt sit quite as well but wasnt horrible. Last weekend got good and drunk for the first time since my flare started in december i drank beer for my friends birthday...for about 14 hours straight...probably not even the smartest idea if i was fully healthy! but meh it was worth it, didnt actually feel horrible the next day no worse then just a usual hangover :), id suggest starting light and seeing if it bothers you or not!

I can't drink at all when I am in a flare.
When healthy, I still can't drink beer.
However, when healthy I like to drink Captain Morgan's Rum and decaf green iced tea(that I brew myself) or red wine. I can't drink more than 2 drinks though even when healthy

I found out the hard way that beer is a no-no for me. I had 2 1/2 beers one evening and was paying for it for 2 days!

If I get drunk I get the poopies. I can have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner with no ill effects though. I try to avoid hard liquor and beer.

I can't drink much, not because of UC, because of Lexapro. The last time I went to a party, I had three vodka drinks. I was totally drunk, dancing on tables, and it took me three days to recover.
I've recently reduced my Lexapro dosage in half. I'm not sure if alcohol will have less of an affect now that I'm on a reduced dosage.
I drink only vodka and absinthe (the Green Fairy).

Sometimes I can tolerate dairy during flares, sometimes not.
If I can, I'll have a white russian.
If I can't, I'll have a black russian.
I normally drink vodka/tonic or a seabreeze or madras
but in a flare, no carbonation and restricted juices are best for me
Don't ask me why I don't react to Kahlua since I have to be very cautious in my caffeine intake otherwise.

I've had no alcohol since diagnosis. Not eager to find out what the reaction would be. I will probably continue to be a nondrinker from here on out.

haha kiolm, nice.
I used to think I could drink some with UC, but since taking better care of everything I have stayed away from it. From the times I have drank, I can tell you that it is hit and miss as to if I'll have adverse effects. When I do, I bleed more easily and in general feel sort of poisoned. These were times when I was not in remission completely (which I don't know if I've ever spent much time in remission, really). Other times I was just fine.
I don't think it ever caused a flare though. I would say you could still go for it occasionally as long as you're willing to make the trade-offs. Just make sure that you can drink with the medicine you are on. I did that when I took 6mp. I asked the pharmacist and she seemed to think a drink or two now and then wouldn't hurt... but not to overdo it. The liver is important!

when i was just on asacol and rowasa i used to be able to tolerate vodka sours (yum!), red and white wines, margahritas. i found that carbonated drinks were a no-no, and NO beer! that's just me tho. if i drank too much, yes it would bother my colitis for a day or so, but somehow i managed to take extra care of myself and i'd be ok. probably not smart to overdo it! i guess i'd start out small and see how you do initially before going all out!

When I was in Germany I did the white wine with lemon fizzy water. It wasn't bad. It wasn't called anything over there and that was the first time I'd ever heard of it so you just probably have to ask. The lemon fizzy water was called Süsselsprüdel. I think it's my new favorite German word, too.
I think I'll mostly stick to margaritas though... maybe it's something about all the ice and stuff that keeps me from having any effects the next day.
Oh. Also. Getting drunk just murders my knees (arthritis) so if you have UC-joint pain, be careful.
