With colitis, ever sense I've had it, it makes me hardly incapable of going to the bathroom.
If I can't use laxative, what can I use?

You could try prunes/prune juice, it may or may not take a while to kick in, just a glass of juice or a couple of prunes a day at first to see how you tolerate it and how it affects you in helping with a bowel movement. Good luck and feel better, the pain of not being able to go is equally or sometimes even worse than having to go all the time, no winning with IBD and it's sad.

It's because of the rectal inflammation...especially if it's limited to the rectum/lower rectum.

What meds are you on?

Are you eating OK?

You can increase certain foods such as citrus, veggies, definitely fluid.

A stool softener might be of help.

This was my life until I completely altered my diet to HIGGHHH FIBER. At first I would try just a couple prunes- results still painfully disappointing (no pun intended). Then i realized i had literally had to max out on fiber every day. (shooting for the 40g range.) Whole grains ONLY, lots of fruits and veggies. It becomes relatively simple once you find the right foods/brands to buy. Just read the labels and look for things that have at the very LEAST 3 g per serving, but shoot for more. Also, drink a lot of water. When you alter your diet to be high fiber, your body requires more water.

I'm on Sulfizine(500mg)
Aloe herbal Stomach Formula
Acidophilus- Intestinal Health
Colon Health- Probiotic

So pretty much more fruit intake....
Like I'd eat a footlong sub yesterday, on top of ramin noodles, banannas, tuna, chips, fishsticks, pot pies
and today I just got out like something no bigger than a quarter after eating all this.... I don't know where it goes,
but I still get hungry.

Is the 500mg oral or rectal?

seems a low dosage to take daily if oral.

yeah, it's oral
It's the only thing I've been able to afford.
If the bottle says take two, would it be better if I took four?

Where exactly is your UC .. limited or throughout?

I agree with qunicy about the samples. My GI gave me samples while i was uninsured, thank god she was able to do so or I would have been miserable.

I really have come to realize that the feeling of constipation is actually all that rectal inflammation. The rectal meds help tremendously to get things moving.
