Hi I am a 36 year old female and I was just diagnosed with mild Ulcerative Colitis last week, had the colonoscopy, and my GI Doctor shot out this big medical term, and I was like okay it can't be that bad...
boy was I wrong...after doing much research I now realize that this is a very serious condition and I have to make a total lifestyle change..
I am 5"9 and in very good shape, but have always had a hard time keeping weight on and have worked so hard to finally put some muscle mass on and some pounds.....and I just fear im going to wither away to nothing now.
My trips to the restroom are minimal at this point and my body is letting me know what is working and what is not...
I would really love some insight on personal experiences as far as meds vs. natural method (probiotics, and diet change) Also protein shakes that work well with this disease. My body quickly told me this morning that my normal GNC protein shake or my ensure shakes would not be tolerated any longer, so I am going to assume that I am now lactose in-tolerant. I started taking vitamins that are higher in iron and B-12...any other experiences with vitamins would be appreciated. Also what are good snacks to carry on the go?
Thank-you in advance for any personal experiences
