My tummy hurts!!!

Hi teach, I am sorry you're feeling terrible. I am sure it is nothing you're doing, it is just that UC can be so unpredictible and difficult to treat. Have you had a colonoscopy to see where the inflammation is active? If it is in the rectum or left side, you may consider an enema at night, either rowasa of cortifoam. A lot of people don't like to take steroid enemas while they are on prednisone but I did it when I was severely flaring and I am now doing better. It's funny because I was terrible for the longest time and I can't pinpoint at what time things began to improve or why. I was doing everything possible though, mesalamine enemas, Canasa, cortifoam, Asacol... I even tried changing oral meds to Colazal/Lialda without seeing any improvement. I was also using cortifoam at night and Canasa in the morning or Rowasa at night and Canasa in the morning... Have you gotten your stool checked to make sure you don't have a bacteria that is makng your UC more difficult to treat? I tried some antibiotics when I was at my worst. Has your doctor mentioned starting 6mp or Imuran? You may need something to reduce your immune system to get you off prednisone without the flare up returning. First you need to get the flare up under control. My one regret is waiting so long to accept that the 5ASAs weren't working for me like they used to and that I needed to start taking something more powerful. I should have started 6mp after my first pred relapse... I thought a slower taper would get me off without having to add 6mp but that wasn't the case.
