I had a C-scope done yesterday, and the results were good news and bad news. The good news was that my UC was very nearly completely gone, with only small patches in my rectum and sigmoid colon. The bad news was I have diverticulosis.

Since I was still quite sedated while discussing it with my GI, I'm not very familiar with the real life ramifications of diverticulosis, other than what was in the brochure he gave me and what I read on Wikipedia. So any feedback from people expereinced with this condition would be appreciated.

Hi...well, the good is good. Are you still on any meds? Strange it's patcny, however...is that related to the diverticulosis.

Sherry was recently diagnosed with it as well...

Make sure when you go for the results that you get a copy.

When I read this, I instantly thought of Sherry (Red) too. She had diverticula on her last colonoscopy. She seems pretty well-versed in this illness. Hopefully she sees this and responds.

Congrats on UC remission. I hope it lasts a long time.

I've been in remission with exception of some low to moderate lower abdominal pain for nearly two years now (since starting back on nicotine therapy). Until now, I didn't understand why I was having pain with no other UC symptoms. My stools have been well formed, but small and two or three per day, which is now also explained by the diverticulosis.

I've been taking Colozal, 4 750 mg capsules twice a day, and three Metamucil capsules twice a day. My GI said to continue with the Colzal, but seems indifferent to the Metamucil. I also have prednisone induced type 2 diabetes which didn't resolve after I tapered from the pred, so I'm taking 500 mg per day of MetFormin for that. One of the MetFormin side effects is D/flatulence but it doesn't seem to effect me that way.

I also had considerable weight loss during the year after going into UC remission (220 to 160) but that seems to have plateaued now. But I'm have no success gaining any of it back.
