I know I have been absent a lot lately on the forum. Well technically I am still here but I have been unable to respond. I know some of you are aware that I am in remission (and doing great btw!) but I just wanted to let you know that I have not forsaken you all for greener pastures! turn

I am having issues with my index finger of my left hand and a bit of the middle finger. I have trigger finger, have had a steroid injection (actually my 5th in 3 years), splinting and physical therapy - none of it is working so surgery may be my next step.

But I also wanted to say......WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEW MEMBERS!! I'm sorry that you're here but I am glad you found us!

Hey Sherry - Great to see you back (though you haven't been gone...) I am sorry your arthritis is still causing you so much trouble. I hope you don't need surgery.

Actually trigger finger is a form of tendinitis. I've been having issues with it for three years so I am actually going to push my doctor for surgery. I hear it's a relatively simple surgery so if I have it done maybe I will get the use of my left hand back somewhat.

I would definitely push for the surgery too. You have to function, and yes....it is a relatively straight forward surgery and I know of a few who have had it done with positive results.

Hope it can happen soon.

Sorry about tendinitis in your fingers. Did you run it by your gastro? All best wishes for you to get the best available treatment soon. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I'm sooooo glad you're in remission! That's awesome news!

I had a little cosmetic surgery last year, and had to take antibiotics and pain meds for three weeks after-wards. I'm convinced that's what caused the flair I've been in for a year, and can't seem to shake. I wasn't diagnosed before the surgery, or I wouldn't have had it. However, my stomach had been in a funk for 2 years, and had been fine for about 6 months prior to surgery.

I'm curious: your siggy says you're unable to tolerate mesalamines, so what do you take to control the UC? I've been on mega doses for a year and have had no improvement. Beginning to wonder if I'm intolerant too...

Guategirl, I am on Colazal (750mgs - 9 daily) and 50mgs of 6mp. I have not been able to get into the proper range of 6mp for the whole 4 almost 5 years I have been on it, so I have NO clue why I am in remission now! lol But hey! I am not complaining! :) I do have other gut issues though, that I deal with on a daily basis but it is a piece of cake compared to Uc (IBS and Divertculosis).

Btw, Colazal is a Basalazide and not a mesalamine, but I do think that it converts to mesalamine somewhere along the line. I just can't handle mesalamine straight up or I get a flu like feeling along with D that is 10x's worse then a Uc flare.

I hope you get OKed for the surgery so that you can get some relief! Gosh, you sure have been through it, stem to stern.....

Glad you are in remission :) 

Sorry you now may have to deal with a surgery but if it is fairly simple and will make your days easier I hope you can do it quickly.

Sherry-- I asked because my gastro told me in the past when I had joint problems never to let another doctor inject me with anything unless they consult gastro beforehand. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
