Most of the medications I've received from dermatologists have been topical. I want to make an appointment to see one but I haven't had any time lately..

I had a mole removed once and it was an in and out procedure, they numbed with a shot, removed and sent for biopsy. Not sure how it works with a wart. I hope it's equally as easy.

I'll be curious to hear what your dermatologist says.

My son had a bunch of warts on his fingers when he was in 3rd grade (5 years before his UC onset) and the dermatologist told us to soak them, file them, and then put on a salicylic acid solution..... he said basically we should "annoy them" enough that the virus would subside. It worked.

So.. I've had a few small ones on my fingers for about a year that haven't grown so I've ignored them, and now there's one on my foot (plantar's) so.... I'm filing and "annoying."

In any case..... I try for a localized approach to any ailment, not a systemic one - less likely to bring unbalance the gut, I find.

they froze them, and now I have to wait for them to fall off (eeew!). I also have some kind of sebaceous things that look like flat warts by my hairline (from oily skin and large pores), they are giving me retin-a for those and if that doesn't work they will have to saw those off of me. Prednisone made me super oily, so I am going to blame that and genetics for the sebaceous things.

I get those little wart like flat bumps too - I don't know what it is to be honest but I have one on the skin of my upper eye (not the eyelid but the skin in between the lid and brow). Sometimes it itches. I have used Retin-A too, it goes away but it comes back. I had one in the same area that caused my eyelid to swell.

As for the warts in other areas, I wouldn't use anything to boost the immune system. Freezing or removal are the best bet. I also heard duct tape works. I had one on my knee that I had froze 3 times - the 3rd time my doc froze it like crazy and man did that hurt! She said if it came back again, she would surgically remove it. But luckily it didn't.
