I had a hysterectomy 4 years after diagnosis when I was 38. I was also put on HRT, oral estrogen for many years then switched to the soy-derived patch.
I wouldn't say it made my flares worse, but I did have endometriosis, so the more steady hormones made a huge difference in that aspect. At least I didn't have the ups and downs monthly regarding my period/UC.
Now, a few years back, I decided to go off the patch and I ended up with a horrific flare where I bled the first time in 14 years. I'm very inclined to almost guarantee the hot flashes and hormone wonkiness influenced the flare.
To me, if you need a hysterectomy, go for it. Having periods and flares were hell for me, so my perception is very subjective.
