am i running out of med options?

hi all, i have uc and am flaring. I am on 6mp and just cannot get into remission, 6mp is at full effect. I have been on methotrexate and had success with it, suddenly it stopped working and my doc tried to increase it but it didn't help. I've been on imuran and it like 6mp, isn't getting me into remission. Sulphur is not an option for me as i have an allergy to it. In my part of the world, the infusions are not approved for ulcerative colitis. I am scared that i have no options, drugs such as dipentum etc i have been told are weak? I really don't know what to do. Would trying methotrexate again be of any use, perhaps this time as an injection and not tablet. Any suggestions are encouraged.

Were you on methotrexate injections or tabs? Injections work better so I'd say give it a shot along with some diet plan.

And go on prednisone/rectal like Sherry suggested.

When I was at the point you are now (it was a year and a half ago) the next drugs were Remicade or Humira or surgery and I didn't want to go there. So I tried diet modification one more time and it finally worked. I was on Balsalazide which was doing nothing and I'd been through all the other possibilities including 6mp. I still take Balsalazide just in case it has anything to do with my remission but there was no hint of remission until I changed my diet.

This was about the 3rd time in 10 years I'd tried diet mod. so believe me I understand if you say you've tried it and it didn't work for you.

My GI doesn't believe in diet as a factor, just looks quizzical when I tell her how well I'm doing. I think she's waiting for me to fall back into a flare but so far so good at a year and a half of recovery.
