Anyone else up and down all night during flare?

Ugh...this is a first for me during a flare. Up and down every couple of hours for gas/blood/mucus combo. I am SO tired I can't see straight. Most flares over the years tend to have symptoms during the day. Wasn't expecting to lose my nights too! I'm not the best sleeper anyway.

B/w that, my sore bum and being in the bathroom all day I am not a happy camper. Just wondering if anyone else could relate to sleepless nights!

Spent 4 straight months like that. Main reason I finally tried remicade. about made me crazy, lol.

I have been sleeping on the couch recently for this reason. For me, the more I moved or rolled over onto my sides the more I had to go to the bathroom. If I sleep on the couch on my back I don't move and stay on my back all night. I was getting up 1 -2 times a night, now I have been sleeping all night until 6 or 7 when I have to get up to go!

I feel your pain, I hate waking up to go to the bathroom!

Have you stopped all rectal meds?  Maybe if you cannot tolerate the ones that you've tried you need to ask for another brand.  Have you tried Hycort I have always had good results with it?  I noticed in your sig that you used proctofoam I think this one is not as effective as the Cortifoam(higher cortisone %) works great for me.

You really need to start the enemas again to get things calmed down because usually when I start getting up at night its a sign things are really flaring.

I have found that when I am up at night if I take a lomotil to slow the colon down the enemas retain easier.  I have also added about 8 vit e capsules into my hycort enema and lube the tip with it to help the bleeding and speed the healing.

I am not using any rectal meds. I diligently used canasa and rowasa for months and months with zero improvement. I need to update my siggy...I switched back to colazal from apriso and am on 30 mg pred. I have a flex sig this Thursday and will be asking for steroid enemas. My gi would like me to think about humira as next option but I want to try steroid enemas first. Hope this all makes sense....pecking away on the iPhone while my little one hogs the laptop!

Oh and have hyosiamine (sp ???) been using it as well.

pink, when I was flared up badly, I was never able to get a good nights sleep. It was awful. I am so sorry you're having this problem. I found that if I stayed very still, I was able to sleep better but the minute I moved, bathroom was necessary! Sometimes I would spend a long time in there too, I felt like I would fall asleep on the bowl. Have you ever tried cortifoam? I used it with my other meds during my last flare up and I think it helped. It's foam but an enema, it's easy to retain. I've heard that proctofoam is not the same as cortifoam. Proctofoam is a much lower dose...

Did you start on 30mg prednisone? Did you see any improvement?

Yes I had been give proctofoam a ways back for hemmies. I have a list for my GI at my sig Thursday and cortfoam is on there!

I had been on pred. a few weeks back and almost tapered off. I bumped back up to 30mg today so see if I see an improvement.

Of course we have a pool playdate today. Not exactly what I wanted to do but feel bad that my little one gets stuck in the house b/c of me :(
