Hi all! Had my first flex sig this am. I wasn't due for a colonoscopy for another year and w/ my current never ending flare GI wanted to have a look. They gave me the option of doing it w/out sedation. I was very nervous b/c I know my proctitis was extremely inflammed. GI and I agreed to try w/ the agreement that if it got bad I would get sedation meds.
OMG there are no words for how bad it hurt. And I consider myself a pretty tough cookie! He immediately stopped and thank goodness I already had an iv in. During colonoscopies I am usually completely out and have no clue what happened. I was fairly coherent after the meds and able to watch the screen for most of the procedure.
As I suspected the lower part of my rectal is severely inflammed. Once you got up a tiny bit everything looked great. It was crazy how red I was. GI went ahead and took biopsies to make sure there was no infection. There were no fissures either. So it would seem all the non-stop bleeding is the proctitis (where my disease has always been per colonoscopies).
He gave me Entocort for next few weeks. If see no improvement he has suggested I do Humira.
Okay hope that all makes sense. Still a little loopy!
