I have been having some pain in my abdomen, but no UC symptoms, so I went to my Gyn. After some tests, they think I have some kind of blood disorder as my platelet assay test came back abnormally high. I am on Colazal and have been for years. Is it possible that the Colazal and the uc could be why my platelet function levels are high? I have a call into my GI, but I am freaking out.

My daughter's platelet count was always high. Hers were sometimes in the millions. Her GI had said it had to do with the inflamation. She said she had talked with the blood dr. and they agreed it was to do with inflmmation.

My platlet count has been high in the past but it has always gone back ot normal. I've never had it as an ongoing result. I wouldn't freak out, it could just be a one time issue.

Around 400 is the top of normal range. I hit 688 and took a stroke. I think 1,000,000 is a bit off.

She had hers tested everytime she had a remicade infusion which was every 4 weeks. Not all the time was it in the millions, low for her was around 600. It was usually around 900. Her GI also suggested I could go to the blood dr. just to make sure she wasn't missing something. We did. No cancer nothing they could find. Her count always went up when she was at her worse. They had a graph to show us. She has since had 2 step j-pouch surgery. Doing great. Haven't had them checked in awhile. Just 3 months post-op.

Well good luck with her, this is hard enough to figure out when it is happening to me I cannot imagine coping with a child diagnosed with UC.
