AIRPLANE TRAVEL: Enemas in CHECKED IN baggage

Hi friends,

I'm travelling by airplane soon. Will I have any problems if I have two boxes of enemas ( Salofalk, foil wrapped) packed in my checked in baggage?
Will some sort of xray machine pick up the foil wrap and think it's bomb making equipment?

Should I get a letter from my pharmacy saying what the two boxes of enemas are?

Has anyone ever packed enemas in their luggage before?

great, thanks. I'm keeping the enemas in the original packaging - bubble pack and foil wrapped and in a box. This is the way they come and any airport security person can read the box and see it's legit.
They take a HUGE corner of my little suitcase. I may need to go get a bigger suitcase.

I travel quite a bit and if its a trip a week or longer I usually just put the whole 7-enema box right in my suitcase. I figure that way its just as protected as it is when it gets shipped to the pharmacy and to my house so it should survive any bag throwing on the plane. They do take up alot of the allowed weight in your bag, however, so be aware of that. But on your way home you'll have lots of room for souveniers!

I always take at least 5 in my carry-on just in case my luggage doesn't show up the same day I do. I didn't realize you could bring a whole box in your carry-on though, I might need to try that next time!

Have the enemas arrived safe and sound? Did they freeze during the flight? (since the cargo hold, where checked luggage are put can get as cold as 7 degrees)

I am about to go abroad for a couple of weeks and was unsure whether to take the enemas in my checked luggage because of the "freezing thing". Also, did you still keep them in their boxes? Not simply in their foil wrapping? Cos boy they do take A LOT of space..

I was only planning on taking a 2 week supply of enemas in my hand luggage, the rest will go in the checked luggage

By "no problem" I think you're referring to the fact the enemas did not freeze up, right?

This thread is very confused because half the people are talking about CARRY ON (e.g., showing box to TSA) and the other half are talking about CHECKED.

Either way it is OK with TSA. For CARRY ON, you should have the pharmacy lable shwing it was prescribed to you affixed to the box. You do not need a letter form pharmacy. Any prescription medication properly labeled, liquid or solid, is OK with TSA. FOR CHECKED, they do not even care about prescription label.

FOR CHECKED, the question of cold has been raised. I think the temperature inside a bag, and possibly inside some wrapping will not be as cold as the air in the cargo hold. It should not be a problem.

I took 2 boxes of Pentassa in my carry on...they pulled me over..lol and made me show them, asked if they were for medical reasons..i said yes..then happily went to Mexico! And yes..my whole carry-on was medications. 😎
