Long story short:

        Diagnosed with U/C in March of 11'.   Currently on Prednisone and Asceral.  Have been diagnosed with moderately-sever U/C all throughout my intenstines, etc.  How do I know if this is service connected?  Have never had stomach problems untill March of this year, was hospitalized, tests done (2 many to count), diagnosed with U/C.  Its in my medical records (military) but how do I know if this is Service Connected as far as the VA is concerned?  They are not initiating a MedBoard as I get out in December of this year.  Am I getting screwed here?  If its supposed to be annotated on my records as being service connected who/where do I go to get it put on there as service connected?  Any help or stories would be greatly appreciated.

No one knows what causes UC. Considering this, can you still say it is connected to your service?

I would definately tell them that it is service connected with  all the stress that the army can put one thru.  Stress, anxiety, lack of sleep and poor eating habits all will bring on symptoms.

I would definitely seek out information from career military people on what to do. You do not want to leave the service with UC and no insurance. I would try to find out info specifically about service and non-service disabilities. And whether UC is ever treated as a service related disability and if you have any options with non-service related. If you have been in for 4 years+, you can get VA healthcare if you are low income. I would check into that. The drugs are very expensive and you need to take them for life.

PS Contact your U.S. Congressman's office(House) if you are having trouble getting help. They usually have someone that does nothing but veterans issues and can really move things along.
