I was born with Crohn's disease and It has been pretty out of control for most of my life. lately I have been experiencing really bad joint pain and have no clue how to deal with it (my hip gives out a lot). Any Suggestions

about 25% of people with IBD will have joint pain, too. I take sulfasalazine which treats both my colon and relieves joint pain. You should see a rheumatologist to get to the bottom of your hip complaint IMO.

Agreed, you need to see a rheumatologist. Arthritis and UC can go hand in hand.

I had erythema nodosum for months with UC, even after I started medication. It was at it's worst while I was super sick for about year, pre diagnosis. There was nothing the DR offered for the severe swollen bumps all over my legs and the painful painful joints (at 23, I felt like I was 70 or something...); the dr. said once we get the UC under control, the symptoms will come under control. I don't know if this is similar to what you have, but the erythema nodosum is gone now, even though my UC is still bad. I take Lialda and I suppose that is what helped. When the erythema went away, so did the joint pain. I have heard that a rheumatologist is the one to see for joint pain, but in my case it seemed to be directly related to my bad-flare of UC and I just had to get the flare under control.

hey crohnsgirl88 wow that is a big deal being born with IBD and living all your life with it. I think that would be a hard thing. I was born with asthma and had it bad when i was young but it was nothing compared to dealing with IBD. This has been alot harder for me. Mentally it has really threw me. Im sorry. i only have one suggestion which helped me. I only had joint pain in one joint it was my left knee. it started after i had a flare in 2009. I did this anti candida diet and it honestly went. I really have no more joint pain. It is easier for me as i have not been dealing with IBD as long as you. but i wanted to share it any way. it has been a long road though with this diet. i have been doing it for a long time. and i think you just have to. Ive been doing it a year and a half. but the joint pain for me went early in the diets i started doing.
