Surgery scheduled for tomorrow

Well, the day has finally come, so much sooner than we ever thought possible.   Brandon was admitted today to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston FL through the ER and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 10am.   He is being operated on my a Colorectal surgeon, Dr. Eric Weiss.   The surgeon explained, in painful detail, that Brandon may need a three stage surgery due to the amount of time he has been on Prednisone.   He won't know if he has to have 2 or 3 stage surgery until he goes in.

Wish us luck and send lots of prayers.

Wow, that was super fast! I'll for sure be keeping Brandon and all of you in my thoughts tomorrow and will be hoping the surgery goes smoothly. Please update us as soon as you are able!

Wow- Things really have escalated for you guys really quickly.

I am so sorry that it has come to this but am really hopeful that Brandon will feel better really soon, get off prednisone and join his friends in high school.

You are an amazing Mom and he is lucky to have you,

This has been a rough journey for you both and I know everyone here at HealingWell wishes you guys all the best-

a quick, easy surgery, fast healing and back to living life for both of you!

I can't believe how quickly this is happening. I do believe he is going to be much happier in the longterm. No more UC worries!!!! Best of luck to Brandon and the family. I will be hoping he can get the 2 step.

i really hope things go well and i'm praying for brandon this morning. he's gonna do great and come out of this so much stronger. you are a great mom and you're both really blessed to have each other!

I wish you and your son the best.  Think, in a couple hours he won't have uc anymore. :-) Hopefully, it can be a two step and I will keep you and your son in my prayers.

I hope Brandon's surgery goes well. It's difficult to hear he's been through so much at his age, but once it's all done...he can resume a new life without his diseased colon and the extreme meds.

herbgarden (and anyone else who doesn't read the ostomy board), it's very nice of you to give some positive energy to Brandon. His mom has updated on the ostomy forum. Brandon is doing well and went home from the hospital yesterday I believe. He is already managing well with his ostomy.

notsosicklygirl The more positive energy we get from people the better off we are, no matter what we are dealing with in life. A kind word or just knowing that someone else is thinking of you or praying for you, can make all the difference when you're going through a difficult time.
