So my weekly indulgence... er... stress relief (because stress management is an important part of dealing with the disease right?) is a trip to the chair massage place in the mall on my way home from work. Across from the massage place is a GNC which I'm only really aware of because they have a talking scale that says "Have you checked your weight today?" every time someone walks by (yes I have, thank you) and I wonder if it drives the massage people crazy or if they just tune it out.
I've always been kind of intimated by that store, with their gallon jugs of protein powders in the window. I figure an alarm will sound if you walk in without a high enough level of muscle mass or something. But I was looking in from the outside and saw they had a probiotic/digestive health section. I went in (no alarm) to check it out. Nothing special, as I expected, but they did have a bag of chewable probiotics.
Now I know these are probably useless, especially as UC treatment, but I'm a sucker for anything chewable. I have chewable calcium, vitamins and other vitamins, fiber (even though I still use the capsules). I was overjoyed to find out that they make chewable prenatal vitamins for when it's time. So I grabbed a bag... they also had vitamin C and zinc in them, which was perfect since I had a cold at the time so I figured I was at least getting vitamins and maybe some probiotics as a bonus.
I
opened the bag in the car to try one because I'm as impatient as the age some of my vitamins are made for. My first thought was 'Yay orange!' followed a couple seconds later by 'Ugh, how did they ruin
orange?' Kind of a gross chemically aftertaste. Or midtaste really. I'm still taking them because I don't want to be wasteful but they really need to take a lesson from my Hello Kitty children's vitamins (yea I'm a sucker for anything Hello Kitty as well) which taste so much like candy it takes all of my adult willpower not to sit down and eat the whole bottle. (Vitamins need to at least taste a
little like vitamins to remind you not to do that!)
Just half bedtime story and half a warning not to be like me.
GanedenBC seems to be the brand if you want to make sure to not be like me.
