Hello to all of you here on the Healing Well forum. I am fairly new, as my post count shows haha. I've been going over some of the threads posted on this board regarding Prednisone and the outcomes of using it. I was diagnosed with Proctitis in February of 2008 and have used Prednisone once before, but it acted much faster then my present experience.
I am currently in a flare-up. My doctor suggested trying Mezavant, but it seemed to have made things worse. This resulted in me beginning to take Prednisone at the 50mg for 2 weeks and tapering off by 5mg from there. However, this time around the Prednisone seems like it is taking longer to act then it did during my previous and only experience. I still have the random bursts of abdominal pain that often result in need to rush to a washroom.
So my question to all that have used prednisone, does a second attempt at prednisone for remission a year later slow down the time it takes to take effect?
Also, with Prednisone, can any suggestions be made in regards to Probiotic intake (types, amount, etc.) because I have read plenty about them, but I can't seem to grasp which one would work best because there are so many strands of probiotics!
Thanks!
