Hi everybody!

I know it's been wayyyyy too long since I've checked in here... I've been doing pretty good healthwise and AWESOME personally wise... ,

Well here's my current situation.... If some of you remember, I started flaring again when I moved out FINALLY From my ex's house back in March of 2010. Well, I've met someone absolutely perfect for me, and have been SOOOO MUCH HAPPIER.... BUT... I'm in this friggen Catch 22 situation now and I'm so worried about my U/C...

A couple of weeks ago I got a bladder infection.. I got pretty sick and the Dr's put me on Macrobid 100mg for 5 days... I took them perfectly with no side effects that I was aware of... Well 3 days ago I started bleeding bright red quite a bit and it's been going on pretty much with every poopie now. WELLLLLLLL...... The bladder infection is coming back and now I've got to go to the dr again tomorrow to see about getting it taken care of.... I'm kinda worried about being on an antibiotic again since I'm already flaring again now.. UGH!!!!

I'm taking Canasa 1000 mg after every poo, and taking Asacol HD 2X a day...

What are your opinions about taking a short course of steroids? Just to get me past this bladder infection crap...

Hi, Susie! Probably you should post under "bladder infection"-- so that all with experience will immediately see it & advise you. Are you taking any probiotic? That might be more helpful to counter the unwanted colon effects from your bladder meds. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

That is what happened to me with my last flare. Had a UTI, took an antibiotic, it came back a month later and had to take another antibiotic.

Have you tried Probiotics to counteract the antibiotic's bad side effects? You probably should call your doc to get their take on the pending flare. Maybe use a steroid foam or enema instead of oral because it sounds like it's mostly rectal at the moment.

     Hi Susie!  My GI doctor always put me on Flagyl along with any other antibiotic I had to use because he said it keeps the "good" bacteria from getting destroyed.

     Hope you feel better real soon!!!

Hi Christine!!

  I went back to my Dr. today and she put me back on Macrobid 100mg. for 7 days this time instead of 5.. I went to the drugstore to get my scrip filled and picked up some "align" Probiotic to take along with it.. I got some vitamin D and a B-Complex vitamin suppliment too. Also got some Citrucel fiber to start taking as well..

  Took my first antibiotic tonight and sort of have VERRRY mild stomach pain... but then again I had a salad for dinner too...lol....

I am flaring again, but mostly bright red blood at the end of my poopies... enough to make a few drips in the water, but nothing like 2 years ago when I ended up in the ER after eating Chili Rellanos... hehehee....

 How the heck are you doing?? I've got a feeling you are so glad you had your surgery by now... I remember when we were both trying to get qualified for Remicade at about the same time... WOWIE how time flies!!!
