New GI + new meds

So I changed my GI because the last one didnt seem to know much about colitis and told me afterwards that he is a GI but specializes more on something else.

I went to my new GI today, and since hes new, I had to tell him everything since my diagnosis. Told him how I flare every year and that im flaring once again this year but this time with only 7 bm a day. He said I should never be flaring if im taking my meds so he switched my Asacol to Apriso. He said that the only difference is the way its delivered to the intestine. If hes changing it to Apriso, it must mean that its more effective? then why on earth havent I been taking this since I was diagnosed?

Also, he asked for a colonoscopy but I told him that I already had one last year. He still wants to do it. Is he just trying to cash in on my insurance? Even if he is I think I still might want to do it as he knows more about colitis then my last GI but I dont know.

Im also now taking cortifoam in conjunction with the Apriso

I agree. Thanx and I didnt know it was just approved so I really hope it does work better since its almost the same as Asacol and contains the same mesalamine. Im glad(not really but u know what I mean) to finally be taking rectal meds as I feel more secure now. The Apriso sounds like maracas just like Entocort lol

It's pretty standard when you get a new GI for them to want to do a colonoscopy and take a look themselves. If you really don't want him to, you could ask your old doctor to send your new GI any notes or pictures or anything he has from your scope last year. I hope the new med works for you.
