Bad scope news

well, I jad a scope done yesterday, and it was very active, so active that they could not finish it. My DR, said that there was a lot of deep tissue stuff and after 11yrs of UC, he thinks it might be Chroans Colitis. So, when he told me that, I was pretty bummed. he wanted to put me on pred, I told him I'd rather not, so he added Flagel&Cripto(sp) for 14 days, continue with colazal and nightly rowasa. I have to go see him in a month. Now I just have to do some research and find out what it is that he thinks I have, and how it differs from left sided UC.

I am sorry your results were such a downer. Have you ever tried Asacol, Lialda, Pentasa, Apriso instead of Colazal? It sounds like you could use something that treats more than the left side.

Ellen, flgyl helps a number of Crohn's patients. I'm not sure why. It also helps a small percentage of UC patients.

Thanks everyone. As for the Flgyl, my GI is not sure if it's crohn's or not. He just said it my disease was very active and it looked as if there was deeper tisue damage. He didn't do any biopsys due to me being in so much pain. I was suposed to have my scope done in July, but the prep I took did not clean me out at all, and ever since then I have been in like a half assed flare till about a week ago and then it started getting worse. After last prep failed I went to Apriso since it was fine for me before, did it for a month, but didn't really help, so I went back to Colazal, and there is some improvement on how I feel. I guess another scope is in my near future, but next time I'm going back to getting some pain meds for it instead of none at all, cuz this last scope hurt like heck.

Oh crap! What ere the results of your scope in February?

Did the doc take biopsies of the area he was able to scope?

Was it continually bad or did you have any areas that had improved?

Have you had stool samples done to make sure it's not c.diff ? Maybe that's what the doc is considering possibly?

So, all of the 20 inches was severe inflammation/bleeding/etc?

Were you on the rectals continually as well?

Q, I can't really say if all 20 inches were bad, I just know that that' s about how far he got. All he said, as he kept shaking his head, was that it was very active and not good. I have not been on rectals daily for a long time, but, I will tell you, that from now on I will do them daily for 60 days, and then I will taper down. And when I say taper down, I will only go as far as every other day. I was having zero problems until I took the prep in July and either I didn't drink enough, or it just didn't work, but either way, that's when this flare started and so, I want to try and get it under control as soon as I can, so I can get a new scope and find out what the heck is really going on.

Q, I was having no symptoms until July. In July I was supposed to get scoped, but the prep I drank did not clean me out so no scope in July. That is when I started this flare.

I can't remember but I didn't drink it all so I put most of the blame on me. I am feeling better since the scope. I was having a lot of mucus, urgency and some blood. Now, no blood, just occasional urgency and no blood and just a little mucus.
