Hi,
I have Crohn's - related proctitis. Since September 30, 2011, D increased and I had a real problem of inserting pentasa enema. I saw the surgeon because painful anal fissures and pressure over rectum. He told me that I have a proctitis and intestinal flare up as I have severe abdominal pain, asked me to stop pentasa enema to ease my rectum, prescribed Cipro and recommended my seeing my doc. My doc agreed on Cipro and after negotiations (we discussed Falgyl but it upsets my stomach badly and I have to take a daily Zofran injection and also pentasa suppositories were mentioned but they cause me severe cramps). Finally, we agreed that I would take enema cort. Things started to become better and then after a week, D increased (actually, I have D everyday). I called my doc, he told to increase Lomotil and switched me to pentasa enema every other day to ease the rectum. Now, whenever I insert the enema I have severe rectal and anal pain that last for more than an hour and it brings me to cry. I always lubricate the tip of the enema with K-Y jel and apply a lot of lidocaine to my anus. It's a stabbing pain that goes upwards and I can feel this pressure from outside as if the last part of my back is swollen.. My doc is away and I won't be able to see him before next week. If I don't take the enema, I have this horrible feeling of pressure over the rectum and D increases. I"m really confused. Has anybody been through this before? How did you act?
Your replies are highly appreciated.
Thank you.
