I was beginning to experience signs of a flare coming on but I could not understand why. So I increased my supplements along with tons of probiotics. It helped a little, but then things continued to deteriorate. I decided to go on a very restricted diet eating only those foods that I know for sure are safe. This brought on minor and temporary improvements but symptoms never fully went away. Once I began losing weight then I knew that I was in deep doo-doo and headed on the way to flarestown.
Then I remembered a slight change I made in my routine. I normally take a glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM supplement every day to keep my joints greased. I recently changed brands to capsules that were derived from SHELLFISH, my previous supplement specifically stated that it was not derived from shellfish. Shellfish has always been a powerful trigger of flares for me. Now I know that even a couple of grams in a capsule can cause problems. Stopped taking the supplement and now I am once again in remission with solidly formed stools that are a work of art.
