Dumb colonoscopy recovery questions

So I'm scheduled for my second-ever c-scope on Thursday.  The first one was when I was diagnosed, and I was so darn sick that the c-scope prep wasn't any different from normal and I was so wipe out already that I don't think the procedure itself really affected me.

Anyway, it will be ok for me to be at home by myself on Thursday afteroon, right?  My DH was going to take our three-year old son with him to get a few things done.  We figured it would be best to get him out of the house so I can get some sleep.  Also, will I be back up to speed enough to take care of him on Friday afternoon?  He has preschool in the mornings, so I won't have him then, but will have to pick him up around noon and will have him solo until my husband arrives home around 5:30.

I just had my second colonoscopy yesterday morning. I slept on and off all day yesterday and was really exhausted. I think it takes a while for the anesthesia to get out of your system. Today I am fine, some lower back/left-sided pain. I got up and went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. I suppose it depends in part on the anesthesia. Yesterday I would not have been up to taking care of a small child. I was really too tired and unfocused. Hope yours goes well.

depends on what they use for sedation- the first one I had the docs used Demerol & Versed, which left me so loopy & out of it I couldn't even walk straight! Came home & crashed into bed for hours, slept great! But then recently, they used Propofol, & you wake up & feel fine, not even spacey or tired. Apparently my GI now uses Propofol- the Versed & Demerol really do put you out of commission the whole day. But- a day with some alone time is always nice, you'll enjoy the downtime w/out your child whether you sleep or not! I'd be very surprised if you weren't up to speed by Friday afternoon- it's extremely unlikely!

Ugh. I think I'm just sensitive to everything they use to knock me out. I'd be spacy, dizzy and out of it no mater how much they used. I'd be walking funny also.

But I've seen people walk out after their scope was done, while I was wheeled out. It's easier if your body isn't drained from a flare, I believe.

I've had scopes with general anesthesia and the twilighty stuff. After general I was pretty wiped out, slept all the rest of the day. I'm assuming that since you're an adult you'll be doing the moderate sedation. I'm fine after that. I am in a LOT of pain from the air (I think I'm just overly sensitive to it) but I can take care of my self etc. They do tell you that you can't drive the rest of the day.
