Colonoscopy this week...asacol?

I will call my GI, but was wondering if anyone can tell me if I take my asacol during liquid diet and clean out? I start the liquid diet on Wed and the golitly on Thur. Colonoscopy early Fri.

Absolutely take it. Just don't take it the night before or the morning of. Take it after the scope with your nice breakfast.

When I had my scope on the 12th, there were 3 in my colon...varying degrees of broken down...interesting.

You shouldn't go that many days without your meds...

Hmm.. I dunno. Definitely ask your doctor, but I know if I take mesalamine on an empty stomach it gives me terrible nausea. I'd probably stop taking it myself, but I would strongly recommend getting your doctors opinion before doing anything.

I normally still take my meds the day before the scope and than after I get home - but not after midnight the day of my scope (nothing by mouth after midnight).

I only did a liquid diet for the day before (which I think is more common than two days before), but I still took my Apriso the morning before. I normally take it with breakfast, but since I didn't really have breakfast, I forgot to until around 11 am. During my scope, I could see the little granules of Apriso here and there. It was sort of funny. Then I didn't take it after my scope until I was back home afterward and had some breakfast.

It's so strange how docs do things differently. Mine allowed me to have clear liquids until two hours before my scope. It was great, b/c I'm always really thirsty in the mornings.
