Hi all,

I am going to be starting on entocort tomorrow, i think the dose is 3mg 3 capsules in the morning. I have been on prednisone a couple of times and i do well when on it but am flaring again and my doc. wants to try this. Just wondering if anyone has had good results with this and I am hoping the side effects are not as bad as prednisone, especially the weight gain and the acne.

Oh, and do you not have to taper off of this, because my doc did not mention a taper,  just said I would take 3 pills a day for one month but did not give me any other instructions, although I do have an appt. with him on 11/22 so i could just check with him then.

I took endocort for about 6 weeks or so. Not nearly as effective as prednisone. Not sure it did anything, actually. I didn't really have any side effects, but I also didn't have too many on pred.

You do have to taper. When I tapered, I dropped one tablet a week.

I took Entocort and my side effects were: lots of energy (think Superwoman lol), some bruising on arms and legs. No weight gain. I'd take it again if needed. Never taken prednisone so cannot compare them.

Second the tapering. I've always gone to two pills for a week, then one pill for a week, then off like mom2panda.

It gave me a rapid heartbeat the first time at three pills, but not the second time I did that dosage a year later.

thanks for all the info.

i will def. talk with doc. about tapering as he did not mention it.

i am hoping it works like prednisone, without the yucky side effects ,lol, because that did work for me but doc. did not want to keep putting me on it.

just started today, so keeping fingers crossed.
