biopsy

 Is biopsy what confirms UC.Are biopsies 100 correct?My biopsy stated moderate UC.My symptoms would be considered mild,but the 2 biopsies taken said moderate UC ,proctocolitis. Thank you for any answers.My GI at the time was very uninformative,have to research everything myself.Now her clinic is closed for improparly sterilizing equipment between scopes so unable to get anymore information. Thanks again!

Biopsy doesn't confirm UC. A supposed diagnosis is stated by the doctor and that aspect seems to be confirmed by the cellular changes, activity of inflammation, lack of infection, depth of inflammation and cell changes, etc. It's more of a "in confirmation with or as found in or something like that.

I've never had any of my biopsy reports state by the pathologist that it's UC. It's only stated active, chronic nonactive colitis etc.

Right, the consistent with is what I was mentally searching for (brain fart). So, that's what I mean...it's not a diagnosis, your doctor would have stated it at the beginning of the report. Check higher on the clinical data or physician's information, or something that says what he suspects.

I've been doing a search on it, so will find the info exactly what would be seen differently between the two.
Basically, it would be the amount of inflammation, certain cellular changes and what's seen usually during inflammation.

What's seen visually doesn't mean what's seen microscopically.

The determiner you're talking about is basically location or symptoms, one or the other or both.

Clear as mud, right?
