I just had my second visit with my new GI doctor. My former GI doctor was not very good... totally downplayed how severe my UC was, told me I could take my medicine if I "wanted" to (or not) rather than working with me to change it, and finally told me that I should just not look at the toilet when I flushed when I told her I was concerned about the appearance of my stools. I wasn't thrilled after my last appointment with this guy (he grabbed me around the neck in a rather painful way and wasn't very nice), but I had heard he was good. Well, I've been having way more bowel movements lately... up to about 10-12 a day, so he said I have to up my prednisone (he wanted me on 60, but agreed to just go to 40 for now since I have been having all kinds of problems due to it), and wanted to start me on Imuran. He kept talking about how it could cause cancer, and when I showed hesitation, he kept talking about how this isn't like a cold and if I don't treat this, I can die. I think he mentioned my impending death about five times. I got the impression that he just wants to scare me into doing whatever he says. Do you think I should try to find another doctor, or just deal with him? He said he could refer me to someone at Penn... anyone had any success there? I don't want to seem difficult, but I also would like a doctor I actually feel good about seeing...
