I was diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis about 7 months ago after having horrible digestive problems for over 4 years, nonstop, running to the bathroom up to 20 times a day with watery D, cramps, distention, etc. I have been on Lialda for about 4 months now. about a month and a half ago, I went into spontaneous remission, litterally overnight. Everything was absolutely normal, once a day, solid. Two weeks ago it ended and now it's back with a vengeance. I went to my Gastro on Monday and she put me on Prednisone. I'm taking a taper of 40 mg's tapering down 5 mg's a day. No improvement yet. I was wondering if anyone has gone into remission for no reason before? And, then had it end for no reason. I didn't make any diet changes, however, I have been advised by many people that I should cut out Gluten. I did have a Celiac Panel done and my Gastro said it came back fine. I've heard of cutting out Gluten, Dairy, I've even been told to go on a Paleo diet. I'm confused as to whether I should make some dietary changes or if this is even brought on by food. My Gastro says it's not. I also don't know how I would have gone into remission without making any changes at all. I did take two Pepto Bismol tablets the day before I went into remission, but I can't see how two of them would have cleared me up that good for over a month, plus I've taken Pepto, along with every other otc medication over the years with no result at all. I know I have so many questions, but I'm still learning about this horrible disease and trying not to feel overwhelmed that I will most likely have to deal with this for the rest of my life. After the 3rd week in remission, I guess I was starting to think it was over. I'm 38 years old and that's a scary thought. Also, does anyone have any advise on Prednisone. I'd rather not take this stuff, but my taper is fairly short term. My conern is all of the side effects, and I've heard of it putting some people in remission, only to have it end as soon as they stopped.
