I hate fasting....

I hate it, I hate it, I hate. I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I am HUNGRY.
On a positive note, I got to try a different prep this time. It is just PILLS. It is called Osmoprep and the nurse said my insurance wouldn't cover it, but it did, so I don't have to drink all that crud this time. I haven't had a c-scope in over 3 years, so I am a little anxious. Not in a flare, this is just my "check-up". Last time the anthesithia was so strong I felt sick for 36 hours afterward, so I really hope this time the effects aren't horrible and of course, no cancer!!!! I need to work on Tuesday, so we'll see..

hope it goes great, jen!! i mean, colonoscopies aren't difficult in general, but the prep is usually such hell. glad you got pills this time. i didn't know they had something other than the horrid jug of crap.

My doctor told me about the pills but said there was ALOT of them and I'm not great at swallowing pills. So I chose the jug not sure which is worse. LOL Good to know Red- I definetely won't choose the pills in the future. *Jen*-hope your scope goes well.

Sorry for how hungry you are, the thing I hate most about fasting is the headaches I get from it....hope your colonoscopy goes well!

Hi guys!! Wow, had no idea about the osmoprep. Guess I better research that if I ever go that route again. Scary! It was so much better, but at the very end I threw up and it tasted horrible. I guess that is a common side effect. It still worked though. :)

As for my scope, it went AWESOME. No signs of UC and the best news is that she told me I don't have to come back for TWO years even though I've had UC for over 7 years. YIPPPEEE!!!!!! The thought of having a c-scope every year brought me to a cold sweat. And, I didn't take Phenergan and felt GREAT afterward. Just took a nap and woke up fine. Obviously don't know about my biopsies yet, but the doc sounded so encouraged that I'm assuming I am fine(though without the biopsies I guess she wouldn't really know...). By the way Hat, I can't believe you remember that it was the Phenergan that made me feel like crap for 36 hours. I had no clue and the doc told me that is what it was and that she wouldn't give it to me and then I promptly forgot what it was called until you just told me. That stuff sucks. I need to remember that word so I never get it again!

Hope everyone is doing well! It is slightly surreal being in remission for so long. Now that I am not having any more kiddos I just wonder what, if anything, will put me back in a flare. I am truly convinced stress and baby/breastfeeding/postpartnum hormones are the only two things that personally effect my UC. So maybe not until....MENOPAUSE. That would be awesome! Until then, I am on my 6 Asacol a day and doing great. :)

Jen..happy all went well for you and that your scope visually was A+. Looking forward to hearing about the biopsies results...hope that's A+ as well.

What meds are you on at this point?

I'm only taking 6 Asacol a day and have been doing that since I've been in remission. I still have a three boxes of mesalamine, but haven't touched them...hmm...they might be expiring. Of course in the back of your head whenever you get results like this you think...do I even need the meds?? This is such an odd disease. But I know I need to stay on them. Just wondering if there are any other long term side effects that will bite me when I am 60+. Hope not.

Haven't gotten my biopsy results yet. UCSF started a new online service, so I need to sign up and see if they have posted them yet. I also need to hunt for a specialist in the San Jose area. Driving up to SF stinks.

Oh and Old Hat, that was THREE years ago. You are amazing. Wish I had a memory like that. No more phenagran for me. That stuff was horrible!
