Takedown tomorrow?!

I am a little afraid to talk about this after what happened last time, but here goes...Paige is scheduled for takedown tomorrow! She had a 2nd dilation last week and everything looked great. We have had pretty terrible luck this year, so it is hard to think that something good might actually happen. She cannot Wait to get rid of the bag! First thing on her list is to take a long, hot bubble bath bathing with the bag has been a real challenge for her!
She will be in the hospital for about 5 days, but I keep hoping she will be good to go on dec 31 and can start the new year at home :). A girl can dream, right!

I will keep you all posted about what happens tomorrow. Please send any happy, healthy thought you have out to Southern California

I hope everything works out this time. I feel so bad that she had to wait but 2 weeks went by quickly. I will be thinking about you both tomorrow.

It would be such a huge positive to hear that this surgery goes without a hitch. I hope all goes well.

Hi everyone!
Thank you for your kind words. She did have surgery yesterday and it was successful :) The only glitch we had (which was a *BIG* one) was that she didn't show up on the surgery schedule (even though it had been confirmed 2 weeks prior) and they had to put her surgery as an add on and we had to wait EIGHT HOURS before it was her turn. 8 hours in a waiting room with other hyper kids pre-surgery.....8 hours in a hospital gown...no food or water....you get the picture. I do have to say Paige handled it much better than I thought she would :) And the Versed actually worked this time, so she actually got happy from the "happy juice" :) It hasn't worked for her in the past, but this time she took it orally instead of in her IV, so I guess that was the trick.
Anyhoo, we got there at 8:30 am and surgery was done around 6:30 and then it was a few hours in recovery and then got to a room about 10:00. LONG DAY. She had a bad night and didn't sleep much...she is having a lot more pain than expected :( And of course that makes her anxiety level shoot through the roof and so on and so on...they have really great pain management physicians at Children's, but paige is one of those people who doesn't react in your typical way to certain meds (she gets that from me...) So she is a tough case for them and they really listen to her...hopefully tonight's extra dose of Dilaudid will allow her to sleep through the night. If all goes well, she will be released Sunday :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!
