Sorry for your discomfort. IMO, it's probably a result of all the bad eating you've indulged in during the holidays (it's a tempting time of the year, I know).
I would try and stream line your diet to cut out sugars of any sort, dairy, wheat, gluten, drink lots of water too. Start a food journal, and you'll soon find some direct connections.
Have you tried the rectal meds at bedtime?
