Sara....yay, you have the go-ahead.

I'd be cautios as well...again, with pancolitis, I'd do one pill a week since you're not having any symptoms, and you're dropping from 12 used over a very long period of time.

But I do stress you do the enemas twice a week...

It's funny that I'm excited only to take 8 pills a day. haha! That seems like so few now compared to 12.

I too recommend 8 Asacol for pancolitis. I'm just trying 7. What the heck...

When I'm doing well, I go down to 2 pills a day of Asacol (1 in the AM, 1 before bed) and up to 12 a day when flaring.
Because of the nature of how it works, it's one of the only drugs for UC that you can self-adjust.

I had to go back up to 8 from 6. I was doing poorly on 6. I always want to get down to 6 pills but it never works out. I was doing well on 7 but 7 is a very odd number. Maybe I will go back to 7 after I am 100%. Some day I hope to be stable on 6. I hope you do well on 8, 8 seems to work well for me.

As I mentioned in the other thread, you might have tapered a bit too quickly.

I went down to 7 from 8 and so far I am okay. I always have trouble when I go to 6.

Did you go to 11, then 10, then 9? I know it's tempting to go faster but it doesn't work out well for me.

how strong is you asacol pill mine is 800mg, so I have to take less pills

 

I take 4 asacol pills at 800mg which brings me to 3200mg per day.

 

not so sick, you were taking 8x400mg I believe for 3200mg. Just get the doctor to give you the 800mg kind, they aren't big at all so you take less pills.

Ok but get the 800mg pills so you take less.

 

Let's see you want 2800mg per day which means 3x800 = 2400mg. So take 3 pills of 800mg + 1 pill of 400mg lol. The object of the game is to take less pills smilewinkgrin

I stayed on 11 for 5 days, then went down to 10 for two weeks, then 9 and a few days after I go down to 9, I get increase in BMs and some tummy rumbling. My GI's office said I didn't have to taper at all and could go right down to 8. I didn't increase the enemas to twice weekly like you suggested quincy as I probably should have.
