this is a company from france that is experimenting with a vaccine like drug that works like nothing else out there and should show some promise when all other drugs have failed. it does not compromise immune system and so far is extremely safe with no side effects.

so if I follow the gist of the link, instead of using a TNF-blocker (e.g., Remicade), the antibodies produced stimulate the immune system to attack (neutralize?) the TNF-alpha? I am not very savvy to the difference betewwn "block" and "neurtalize", but it sounds like once you form the TNF-kinoid antibodies, you are done - compared to blockers like Remicade where you need ongoing dosing.

Of course, only half the people at the highest doses got a remission. Other things besides TNF-alpha are involved in the mechanics of UC. Still I would try a shot to se if I was one of the lucky 50%

But does it make sense to vaccinate against TNF alpha? TNF means tumour NECROSIS factor, something that kills tumours? Is it safe to vaccinate against this? Isn't it better to use remicade so at least you can get off at some point?

I think it's like not like you think, lol. I don't believe they develop products to counter a disease yet being completely vulnerable to tumors. I think it's more in depth that this. Regardless, whenever the product will become available they will explain how it works in layman terms.

It's not like, hey guys I got the cure for colitis, but you're 100% to get cancer tumors all the time. Oh well. LOL

Somedude, yeah i realize that but a vaccine against tnf will do just that. and they do use drugs that make "us" more vulnerable to cancer - remi, humira, cimzia, 6mp. I don't think it's a good idea to vaccine against something like this. maybe someone has a better explanation but it looks like that's what they want to do. There a lot of treatments in the pipelines, but this one doesn't seem like a winner to me. Maybe I'm wrong?
