So I finally got ahold of someone for LDN, a naturopaths office. They apparently charge $370.00 for an office visit, which seems very high to me, Ive been to MDs that charge $100.

I guess if it gets me an LDN prescription, its worth it?

I'm sure InSoFL can give you some suggestions too but I've read that there are doctors (yes actual MD's) who will give telephone consults for LDN and don't have to be in your state or the state you will be getting the Rx from. I'm guessing this is because LDN is not a controlled drug and is safe.

Seems expensive to see a naturopath or doctor in the hopes of getting an LDN prescription, what if they say no way. But perhaps you have other reasons for seeing them? I've never been to a naturopath but have the card of a local MD who uses alternative as well as FDA treatments, just haven't had the need to try her yet.

I had to pay $450 for the LDN script locally. They WILL give it to you if you pay for the appointment but in Canada I believe only an MD can prescribe it, not a Naturopath so you might want to double check that before spending the money). You might be able to find a functional medicine doc, but again they are expensive. I think doing a phone consult is a good idea. Google it. Good luck.

I read a lot of info on www.lowdosenaltrexone.org
and used www.ldnscience.org / Find a Doctor to locate one in my area.

You might check them out to see if phone consults are available.

I am going to check out ND's in my area to find out what they charge and if they prescribe LDN.
My insurance drug coverage includes it but in a high dose tablet form. Not sure that would be workable for us.

Thanks All,

Ive already gotten some advice from her, well see. I think I may tell my gi that I have a prescribing Dr if he wont do it, and maybe that will sway him, but I doubt it. What crap! 4 hundo just to see a potential quack! (vent) :/

Yes, the cost is high. But alot of alternative or holistic doctors don't take insurance and charge that for their time. Unfortunately, LDN prescribing has become such a specialty that some doctors feel "entitled" to charge for it, because they know who else is going to give it to you?

My local osteopath charged me $175. (not covered by insurance).

I agree about checking before you make the appt. to make sure he'll prescribe the LDN to you.

You could push your GP or gastro to see if they'll give in and prescribe it for you, you certainly have nothing to lose, but it would surprise me if they did.

That would be 50 mg Naltrexone, which has been used effectively to get drug addicts and alcoholics off their addictions. That is covered by insurance.

LDN, low dose naltrexone is considered "off-label FDA usage" and is usually at 4.5mg, although it's often given starting at a dose of 1.5mg going to 3.0 mg then 4.5 mg.

There are some who cannot get LDN, so they order theirs through an online site, and "prepare" a diluted version of LDN, so that if they apportion the correct dosage, it will equal 4.5mg.
