Thank you all for your condolences, responses, and welcoming me to the forum. Glad I found this forum...it is very, very helpful to know what solutions other people are using. Lots of great suggestions!

I will definitely look in to LDN plus the various supplements. My doctor suggested the SCD diet or The Maker's Diet. He also recommended VSL3 and taking curcumin instead of fish oil. Supposedly, studies have show it to be a more effective anti-inflammatory than fish oil.

I have tried SCD, but have trouble eliminating all grains (I am down to just white rice and occasional oats), but I have made lots of imitation grain recipes using almond flour. I am currently following a dietician's diet that allows low fiber fruits and vegetables and soluable fiber.

I have also moved up to 2 capsules of VSL3 (forgot about that in my signature) and have been tolerating it fine. However, about two weeks ago I developed eczema on my arms and legs. I stopped VSL3 for a week to see if that was somehow contributing to the eczema. Not sure yet....Anyone else have eczema from any medications or probiotics?

InSoFla, thanks for all the great suggestions. I have been keeping a small journal, but if there is an app that would be great! I have an app for SCD grocery shopping which was helpful when I was trying to stick to that diet. I will definitely look into the Paleo Diet...that sounds like it makes sense.

SherBear46, I have been on Asacol for a year now and I have never been totally sure it works. The reactions I had to the enemas I attributed to the sulfites. Wonder if it would make a difference if I stopped Asacol all together...

The only reason I thought the eczema might be from VSL3 was that it was the only new or increased dose for me around the time the skin problems showed up. The first time I tried VSL3 I had to stop because it made me sick at night and gave me insomnia. From reading this forum several weeks ago I got the idea to start out with one capsule rather than the recommended two and work my way up...which seems to be working except for this weird eczema thing, which may be unrelated. You are right about the oats... I normally don't eat oats either and recently started in order to get some soluble fiber into my colon. Thought it would help me...which I think it has to some extent.

I do like my doctor...he is a professor and seems to be current on his information. I started seeing him in June after I had gone to three other GI docs whom I didn't really like and thought they were not being aggressive enough.

My doctor mentioned in my last appointment when I asked him about grains that he did not agree with the "gluten free craze". Since I don't supposedly have Celiacs he said he didn't see any reason why I would need to completely eliminate grains. I am still interested in trying the gluten free diet for 30 days or more to see what happens.... I tried it before for two weeks and didn't seem to make a difference, but now I am reading that time frame was probably not long enough.
