Holy cow am I hurtin'! I must've been slightly constipated; I was going but not a whole lot (solid stool) - Uc is in remission btw. But I had an apple last night, which normally doesn't bother me a whole lot if my Uc is in remission, and it seems to be going right thru me today. I'm seeing partial pieces of the apple peel in the toilet which means that my body is not digesting the peel which means that it's bothering my diverticulosis pockets which means that it's causing some discomfort and cramping which means I am going to the bathroom a lot (8 times so far) with semi solid stool which means it's making my hemorrhoids hurt like crazy. Agh!
Sorry, just had to vent a little! LOL

Aw Red, I'm sorry to hear that...my hubby only eats peeled apples cuz he doesn't like the skin (nothing to do with any health issue)....my MIL has diverticulosis but she's so clueless (in general) so I cannot help with any suggestions for you there, but take lots of sitz baths with lots of epsom salts for the hemmies and drink lots of water to help the bowels move and this also helps with toxins and maybe just eat peeled apples. some prunes/prune juice may also help the bowels move along as well.
Feel better soon!

I feel for you :-( I made the mistake of eating a satsuma a few weeks ago when I was in a bad way already. God knows what made me blank out and eat it, but my body punished me for it for 2 days. Sending you positive energy.

We don't digest apple peels anyway. You'll see them if you're having loose/diarrhea stool.
I can't see that the apple has caused you to go 8 times, however...maybe you are in a slight flare?
i didn't think it was good to have peels with diverticulitis...?? maybe that area is inflamed and has kicked in the colon to be over active.
I don't think a few nights of rectals would hurt...try them.
Hope you feel better soon.

Ouchee hope you feel better. I haven't eaten an apple in a long long time. I've had maybe a slice of an apple but thats about
it. Raw fruits and veggies don't like me much even in remission.

Apples and their peels are on the list to eat with diverticulosis not diverticulitis tho. Perhaps, my pockets were irritated for some reason and the peels just aggravated it. I feel pretty tender still on both my left and right side (where they are).

Do you have any Proctofoam HC on hand for the hemmies? I had to trot it out last weekend-- 1st time in about
3 yrs. Ya never know! These colons of ours can be so crazy ... Here's hoping you feel better by the time you read this! / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
