jpouch and pregnancy?

just had a colonoscopy...
good news: uc getting better
bad news: a million polyps have formed in my colon (waaay too many to biopsy all or even to take out all of em) and dr. said i'm @ a really high risk for colon cancer and she wants me to remove my colon and get jpouch! waaaahhh!

i have soooo many questions that i know only our little community of uc'ers will answer honestly:

~pros and cons?
~how bad is the bag, really... and how long will i have to wear it?
~what if something happens to my small intestine? that's all i'll have left!
~isn't our colon the part of our body where all our nutrients are absorbed? and where alot of our emotions come from?
~most importantly, can u have a normal pregnancy?? i'm 32 yrs old, no kids yet but all i want to do is start a family... of course this uc had to come @ my prime baby making age, huh?!


drugs: asacol HD, 6mp, remicade
good stuff: probiotic, calcium w/ mag, d3, b12, iron, folic acid,
natural stuff: repairvite (powder form, mix w/ water)
tried every diet: scd, maker's, fodmap, g-free, dairy free, (nothing working so far)
tried all alternative stuff: acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractic, meditation, energy healing

i've had uc since 2009 and i've been so determined to heal myself naturally and get off all meds that i think i'm just stressing myself out! not to mention i've had a few emotional meltdowns since hearing the "jpouch" word from my doc...who knows, maybe i'm just destined to take out my colon!
so if there's anyone out there that can answer my q's and ease my worries a little i would really appreciate it <3

Sorry to hear of your situation. Go to jpouch.org and go in the women's health and pregnancy forum. You will get a lot of answers there and you can ask questions about pregnancy. A lot of people have to have surgery because of FAP....it's not just for UC. Having the bag isn't really that bad and it's only temporary if you are getting a j pouch. I only had the bag for 3 months. I love my j pouch! Also, all our nutrients are absorbed thru the small intestines not the colon. Our colon has an important role but we do not need it to live and function.

I also suggest jpouch.org. From what I've researched, some women do have to use IVF. If you get laparoscopic surgery, it affects your fertility less than an open surgery.

Are your polyos precancerous (adenomas) one, or hiperplastic polyps that are scare tisue after Uc fire. I have polyps that are hiperplastic and my doctor says that they can't become cancer, and this is not reson to remov colon, only problem is she has to be careful and slowly while doing my colonoscopy....If your colon is full of predcancerosu polyps that is reason to do surgery...
